"VL Data" sheet.
Updated 27 Jul 2001

This document discusses how to use the "VL Data" Sheet.

Excel will recognize dates entered as, for example, "31 Mar 01".
This will save you having to translate the month name to a number
in your head.

You can use Tab and Shift-Tab on the keyboard to move, respectively,
forward and backward through highlighted cells where data can be
entered.

The TSSW spreadsheet can read data from an NAIC ".SSG" file
("Import SSG File" button) and can save data in that format
("Export SSG File" button). This allows you to use data in ".SSG"
format from any of a variety of sources, and to exchange data with
other programs (such as NAIC Toolkit and STB Stock Analyst Plus).
All information from TSSW can be saved and read using ".SSG"
format including such things as outliers, "Other" annual data,
and chart scaling. Other programs may ignore some or all of
this information when reading an ".SSG" file created by TSSW.

The TSSW spreadsheet can also read data directly from NAIC Toolkit
("Import from NAIC Toolkit"). See the separate "Toolkit Import"
document for more detail about this.

The "New Year" and "New Quarter" buttons make room for one more
period (year or quarter) of information by moving the existing data
over. Data from the oldest period is discarded.

The "Update Prices" button allows you to update some or all of the
stock price information over the internet (from Yahoo!). Clicking
the button will display a dialog box with more detail about how to
do this.

The last row of annual data (just below Pretax Profit) is for
"Other" annual data you would like to appear on the Growth chart
(on the "Quality" sheet). Changing the title for this data (in
the 1st column) will also change the title for the data on the
chart. If you don't want any "Other" data on the Growth chart,
leave this row empty. Note that you can enter formulas as well
as numeric values in this (or any) row.
